Weller - Soldering technology with system
Weller is one of the most internationally recognised manufacturers of hand soldering technology. The company was founded in 1945 by Carl E. Weller in the USA. Just 15 years later, Weller developed the "Magnastat" soldering iron, a pioneering technology for temperature control at the soldering tip. This allowed the soldering process to be controlled automatically for the first time, which not only increased efficiency but also made quality reproducible. Shortly afterwards, Weller expanded into Europe and built its own plant in Besigheim near Stuttgart. To this day, this location is one of the most important for the development and production of hand soldering technology.
Since then, the brand has stood for the consistent further development of existing solutions and adaptation to new production requirements. Weller products are used in many areas - from industrial electronics production to research facilities, repair workshops and the training sector.
The focus today is on modular systems that can be integrated into existing working environments. In addition to pure soldering technology, workplace design also plays a role. Temperature measuring devices, extraction systems, traceability and ergonomic aspects are all part of a comprehensive portfolio. With series such as WXsmart or WT, Weller addresses both networked production lines and manual soldering stations with flexible requirements.
Another development focus is in the area of pollutant extraction. Weller offers various systems for this - from point extraction directly at the soldering tip to centralised extraction for several workstations. The range is supplemented by laser fume extraction systems for special applications as well as devices with HEPA and activated carbon filters to reduce fine dust, vapours and odours.
Weller products have a modular design, which facilitates long-term maintenance and retrofitting. Many components can be reused for years, which increases investment security. At the same time, the manufacturer is continuously developing existing series - for example with new handpieces or optimised controls. Connectivity is also becoming increasingly important: control units can now be integrated via networks and managed centrally.
With a view to future requirements, Weller is increasingly working on solutions that can be integrated into digital production processes. These include cloud-based monitoring systems, smart consumption analyses and adaptive control loops. The transition from the classic soldering station to intelligently networked workstations has thus already begun.
Despite these developments, the company remains true to its core expertise: reliable, durable technology for precise soldering processes. The devices and systems are mainly developed and manufactured in Germany. The company's understanding of quality is based on international standards such as ISO 9001, and users benefit from a wide range of spare parts, technical documentation and an international service network.
Weller is now part of the American Apex Tool Group, making it one of the largest suppliers of hand tools in the world. The brand remains independently positioned within the group and continues to specialise in soldering technology and workplace solutions.
