What advantages do transparent ESD films offer for component storage?
Transparent ESD films enable visual inspection of printed circuit boards, assemblies or packaging units without having to remove the components from the protective packaging. At the same time, they reduce electrostatic charging during storage and in-house handling in EPA areas.
When are ESD cover films used?
Covering films are used to protect electronic assemblies from dust, dirt and electrostatic charge during interim storage or production interruptions.
What requirements apply to films in EPA zones?
Films for EPA areas must have controlled electrostatic properties and must not create insulating surfaces. At the same time, they must be mechanically resilient and suitable for electronic components.
Why are ESD films offered in rolls?
Rolls allow the films to be flexibly adapted to different packaging sizes and component formats. This allows electronic components to be packaged or covered as required without having to use prefabricated, often unsuitable sizes for the packaging.
