Why are ESD bags used?
ESD bags protect sensitive electronic components from electrostatic charge during storage, transport and despatch. At the same time, they reduce mechanical stress and support safe packaging processes within electronics production.
What are the differences between conductive and shielding ESD bags?
Dissipative bags reduce electrostatic voltages on the surface in a controlled manner. Shielding variants also have a metallised protective layer against external electrostatic fields and are often used for sensitive electronic assemblies.
Which components are typically packaged in ESD bags?
ESD bags are used for printed circuit boards, SMD components, ICs, connectors and complete electronic assemblies. The packaging protects sensitive components during internal logistics and shipping processes.
Why do many ESD bags have a resealable seal?
Resealable bags facilitate repeated opening and secure closing during storage or order picking. This means that electronic components can be stored in a way that is both protected and quickly accessible.
