Why are EPA access barriers used?
EPA access barriers control access to electrostatically protected areas and help to consistently comply with protective measures for ESD areas. They prevent people without tested earthing or unsuitable equipment from entering sensitive production or test areas.
What functions do EPA access systems have?
EPA access systems often combine personnel testers, access control and documentation in one system. Before entering the EPA zone, for example, ESD shoes or wrist straps are tested. Access is only authorised after a successful test.
When are automatic access barriers used?
Automatic access barriers are used in electronics production, clean rooms and controlled production areas. They support standardised test procedures and improve the traceability of personnel earthing and access controls.
Why is the documentation of ESD tests important?
Many companies document personnel tests for quality assurance and compliance with standards. This allows tests to be traced and ESD protection measures within production to be permanently monitored.
