What is ESD?

ESD is the abbreviation for "Electro Static Discharge". This type of voltage breakdown is caused by large potential differences. Probably the best known examples we encounter in everyday life are lightning strikes during storms or when we receive a small electric shock when touching a door handle.

Why is ESD protection so important?
