ESD basic training - What is this course about?

In our ESD basics course, you will learn all the important terminology and rules of behaviour relating to ESD protection and electrostatic discharge. Our ESD expert Dirk Schwenner will use various examples to show you the different possible dangers of electrostatic discharge and explain how to avoid them.

The following key questions will be addressed in this online training course

  • What are important terms in connection with ESD?
  • How does electrostatic discharge occur and how does it work?
  • How is an EPA (ESD protection zone) structured?
  • What rules of behaviour must be observed in an EPA?
  • What are process-relevant isolators?
  • What packaging and clothing protects against ESD?

The various scenarios that can result in electrostatic discharge and thus damage to sensitive electronic components, for example, are illustrated with clear images and video material. In addition, the detailed audio recordings (spoken by Dirk Schwenner), which are available in parallel with each section of the course, provide all the important details and information.

The speed at which the online course is conducted can be selected individually and according to requirements in order to provide all participants with as much specialist knowledge as possible on the subject of ESD. This is checked at the end of the online course by means of a questionnaire - if necessary, it is possible to repeat the course content again in order to be best prepared for the questions.

Once you have successfully completed the online course, including the questionnaire, you will receive a personalised certificate from us confirming your participation in the ESD basic training course.

ESD refresher training - What is this course about?

Our ESD refresher course builds on the basic ESD training course to repeat in detail all the important areas and relevant rules of behaviour in an ESD protection zone. It also focuses on the possibilities of generating and avoiding electrostatic discharge. Our ESD expert Dirk Schwenner explains and explains all the topics covered via detailed audio recordings together with visual content in the form of images and videos directly for each topic area.

The following key questions are covered in this online training course

  • How does electrostatic discharge occur and how does it work?
  • What must be observed in an EPA (ESD protection zone)?
  • What conditions influence ESD?
  • What rules of behaviour apply in an EPA?
  • What functions do process-relevant insulators have?
  • Which clothing is suitable in the EPA according to IEC 61340?

As in the ESD basic training course, all content and topics are presented with clear images and video material - supported by detailed audio recordings from our ESD expert Dirk Schwenner. The various scenarios that can cause electrostatic discharge and thus damage to sensitive electronic components, for example, are dealt with even more intensively in this online course - at the same time, the possibilities of avoiding hazards caused by ESD are repeated and demonstrated.

As with our other online training courses, the pace of the training follows the participants so that the online course can be carried out as individually as possible and according to requirements. Our aim is to provide all participants with the broadest possible range of ESD expertise and to consolidate this through repetition. At the end of the online course, a final quiz with questions on all the content covered in this course is available for personal review of the learning content. If required, it is also possible to repeat the course content again in order to best prepare for work in an EPA and the correct handling of ESD.

Once you have successfully completed the online training course, including the questionnaire, you will receive a personalised certificate from us. This also confirms your successful participation in the ESD refresher course.

Special Care in ESD Protected Areas

In an ESD protected area, people working there must comply with specific rules of conduct to prevent damage - particularly to ESD-sensitive electronic components - caused by electrostatic discharge. For effective ESD protection, it is essential to raise employee awareness of ESD so that the necessity of protective measures is understood and consistently followed. To protect against damaging ESD in the electronics manufacturing industry, international experts have developed standards that define the fundamental principles of ESD protection. Our training program strictly follows the standards IEC 61340-5-1:2007 and the German version DIN EN 61340-5-1.

Where can I redeem my access code?

Course Access Period

All courses have a maximum access period of 12 months from the date of purchase - this applies to individual bookings. For access codes, the 12-month validity period begins on the day the code is redeemed.

Personal Certificate

The certificate is issued in your name and contains all relevant certification details. This includes, among other things, confirmation that the applicable requirements and regulations have been observed and complied with upon completion of the course.
