The abbreviation LDPE stands for low density polyethylene. LDPE is therefore a form of polyethylene (PE). PE is very elastic and insensitive to acids, alkalis, alcohols, oils and water - an excellent material for bin liners or refuse sacks. Low density PE (LDPE) is much softer and more flexible, but also less resilient than high density PE (HDPE). Due to the higher strength properties, HDPE films can be produced up to approx. 5 my, LDPE films are usually not thinner than 12 my.
