Metcal has led the industry for decades, starting with SmartHeat® technology, which detects thermal stress and immediately delivers energy to the solder joint when needed. The embedded self-regulating heater delivers the right amount of energy based on the requirements of the solder joint. This enables a fast, safe and repeatable process that requires no calibration. The thickness of the intermetallic compound is critical to the formation of a solder joint.

Connection Validation™ (CV) evaluates the quality of the solder joint by calculating the formation of the intermetallic connection and providing closed-loop feedback to the user. CV provides feedback to the user via the LED light ring integrated into the handpiece. It relieves the user of the risk associated with the variables of the soldering process and takes away the decision of success or failure of a good solder joint. CV complements the user's ability to assess the quality of a solder joint by introducing an objective method of assessing solder joint quality. This systematic and objective approach provides repeatability and a measurable standard for the soldering process.
